Suiō-ryū demonstration

At MängudeÖÖ, you can witness a performance of Suiō-ryū, which introduces a culture that has inspired various video games, including Ghost of Tsushima, Trek to Yomi, and Way of the Samurai.

Suiō-ryū iai kenpō is a Japanese martial arts school that has been passed down from generation to generation since the 16th century. Suiō-ryū got its name from the graceful flying style of seagulls, which inspired its founder. The central focus of the school is the sword, but students also learn to use other traditional weapons. Techniques are taught both individually and in sparring. In addition to weapon handling, training the warrior's mindset is essential, which includes building confidence, attention, concentration, and other qualities.

Suiō-ryū is not just a sport or a hobby; it also allows one to become a part of Japanese culture and traditions, where Shintō and Buddhist teachings and the budo lifestyle play an important role.
